1) Can you provide a dig out if I have a frozen or jammed bin?

Yes, we have an excavator on site that is able to assist with frozen and jammed bins. Additional cost may be applied depending on the amount of work needed.

2) If I have a load that is coming in after hours will you stay open?

Yes, we are approved by the MOE to work outside of our scale hours and are ready to work with our customers to make sure the job gets done. If you can provide as much notice as possible we will try our best to accommodate your needs.

3)  What is your diversion rate off of your sort line?

Each month we will complete an internal audit on our sort line to get an accurate diversion average. Please call us for our current diversion rate.

4) What is considered a C&D recycling bin?

A C&D recycling bin must contain a majority of recyclable C&D product. Ideal products for our sort line include shingles, drywall, wood, metal, paper, cardboard, brick, concrete and a majority of plastics. Materials that we have not found a home for other than landfill include PVC piping and insulation. If a bin is dumped on the floor and is reclassified as waste we will re-route  to the material bunker and invoice a tipping fee accordinly. If you have any questions about the material in your bin please give us a call or feel free to ask our staff and we will be happy to have a look.

5) Can you provide diversion reporting for C&D projects?

Yes, if you notify us of a specific project that you are working on we can work with you to provide accurate tracking on a weekly basis. Please give us a call and we can work together to customize a solution for you to present to your customer.

6) What materials are not accepted at your facility?

Below is the primary material that we cannot accept, but if you have a product you have questions on please give us a call prior to arrival.

  • Anything considered a hazardous waste including paints or chemical
  • Propane cylinders or any other highly flammable or explosive material
  • Any liquid waste
  • Organic waste
7) Can payment be made at the scale or do I need to set up an account?

We will accept visa, master card or cash at the scale, however we ask that you still call in advance to review our facility use agreement prior to coming.

8) What safety equipment is required to be onsite?

CSA approved hard hats, safety boots, high visibility (reflective) clothing, safety glasses, and hearing protection (where required) must be worn at all times. If needed our scale house can provide a vest, hard hat and safety glasses. If you do not have all required equipment you will not be allowed to proceed into the facility.

9)  Can we have a tour of the facility?

Yes, we are always happy to provide a tour of the facility. We require that you book a time for your tour and you will be responsible to bring your own safety gear (we can provide hard hats and vest). At WasteAway we are proud of our facility and how we are helping to divert material from Ontario Landfills and we like to show it off.

10)  How long does it take to set up an account?

We will try and rush your application to get you set up as quickly as possible, but we do ask that you try and give us a few days to get your account set up. To make the process run smoothly please provide as much information as possible on the application.
